The use of functional antioxidants to improve general health, Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) and reducing mortality is a growing area of interest in the animal production sector.

Researchers observed that laboratory rabbits fed special diets rich in hydroxytyrosol) had an increased ability to resist oxidation of LDL and rabbits had reduced plasma levels of total and esterified Cholesterol.
