Main Feed Applications:

  • Fish & Shrimp Hatchery
  • Racing Horses & Camels
  • Pets

The use of functional antioxidants to prevent disease by improving general health, Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) and reducing mortality is a growing area of interest in the animal production sector.

Nova Mentis has specifically created 1-HT® hydroxytyrosol to address this market need, providing enhanced feed performance and animal production cost savings.

Animal breeding is moving towards the prevention of disease rather than treatment, in order to limit the use of antibiotics in animal production. The European Union has approved in 2018 a legislation to ban the prophylactic use of antibiotics in farming, which comes into force in 2022.

Chickens fed a diet supplemented with 1-HT® hydroxytyrosol achieved a higher Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) and lower mortality compared to control groups and produced healthier animals and a higher quality meat.

Researchers observed that laboratory rabbits fed special diets rich in hydroxytyrosol) had an increased ability to resist oxidation of LDL and rabbits had reduced plasma levels of total and esterified Cholesterol.

Hydroxytyrosol improves early postnatal and juvenile development of offspring and better meat quality in livestock.

HT can be an innovative ingredient in aquafeed to reduce perivisceral white adipose tissue in farmed fish.

“Antioxidants are critically important as they improve cellular function, prevent diseases and promote a better growth of the animal.”
